Coating Inspector including marine and offshore

‘Train the inspector’

The Coating Inspection course also includes an additional module in Marine and Offshore Coating.

All successful participants are qualified in:

  • Perform and direct inspection or testing operations according to established or recognised procedures including IMO PSPC MSC.215 
  • Choose the extent of inspection or testing to be used (where agreed procedures allow)
  • Choose the inspection and test methods to be used (where agreed procedures allow)
  • Set up and calibrate inspection or test equipment
  • Perform and supervise inspection or testing tasks
  • Interpret and evaluate results according to applicable normative documents
  • Define the limitations of application for common test methods
  • Understand and transform normative document requirements into practical instructions adapted to the actual working conditions
  • Prepare written test instructions

Course - CIP Level 2

CIP Level 2 focuses on advanced inspection techniques and specialized application methods for both steel and non-steel substrates, including concrete using both nondestructive and destructive techniques.

All successful participants are fully trained in:

  • Surface preparation
  • Coating types
  • Inspection criteria
  • Lab testing
  • Failure modes for various coatings
  • Specialized coatings and linings

Train the Supervisor

Supervisors are trained to a high standard on improved safety, standards and communication on site.

All successful participants are fully trained in:

  • COSHH and Risk assessments
  • Material health & safety data sheets
  • Method statements
  • Coating types & systems
  • Paint specifications
  • ISO & other standards
  • Paint failure
  • Paint inspection including a practical element
